- DETAILED PROGRAM
- DAY 1: CUSCO - RAINFOREST LODGE
- We leave from Cusco by our private bus, driving through the mountains, to get to the typical folkloric town of Paucartambo. Here we take a short walk around the town before carrying on to Ajanacu, the entrance to the Cultural Zone of Manu Park. From there we continue enjoying since the mountain grass land, elfin forest, cloud forest where will walk for several hours to visit a complex courtship behavior, performing impressive lek displays of Cock of the Rock national bird of Peru (Rupicola peruviana) quetzal, monkeys and orchids. We arrive at our private Rainforest Lodge in the evening where we will stay for the night.
- DAY 2: RAINFOREST LODGE – BONANZA ECOLOGICAL RESERVE
- After breakfast we continue by private bus to Atalaya. On the way we stop to observe a coca plantation and at a view point where you can get a good overview of the jungle and the river. From Atalaya we leave by motorized boat along Alto Madre de Dios River to Aguas Calientes, where you can bath in the natural hot springs. During the boat trip we will see many different kinds of animals, especially birds, and a beautiful landscape. In the afternoon we arrive to Bonanza Ecological Reserve where we will have a short rest. In the afternoon we will have preparation for the expeditions and in the evening, we leave for a night walk in the jungle to look for spiders, insects and snakes. We return to the lodge for dinner and spend the night in our beautiful, comfortable lodge.
- DAY 3: CAMOUFLAGED HOUSE – CONDEJA RIVER (RESEARCH ZONE)
- This day we explore the primary rainforest (untouched) carrying with us all our camping equipment and food walking through a creek, swamp areas with a big chance to see many monkey species, birds like parrots’ unbelievable variability of plants like giant trees, palms and medical plants with ample opportunity to see all sorts of wildlife like a monkey, anteaters, peccaries. In the afternoon we will arrive at our destination Condeja River, our night will be spent camping in tents in the river bank with mattresses provided for your comfort and after dinner you will do a night walk to see caimans, nocturnal animals and nights creatures.
- DIA 4: EXPEDITION IN BONANZA ECOLOGICAL RESERVE - CAMOUFLAGED HOUSE
- We will continue to explore the vast Amazon jungle through the middle of Manu National Park, having many opportunities to see wildlife such as 11 species of monkeys, colorful butterflies and other creatures that make the Amazon so spectacular. we will do several hours of walk, and then finally arrive at the clear water Condeja River where we will camp out, this meandering river offers possibilities to spot Giant Otters, Caiman, Jaguar. Entering deep into the jungle heart takes will give us many opportunities to see wildlife, and really make your jungle experience as exciting and complete as possible. Our guide from the jungle will be a professional who will tell you about the jungle lifestyles, like medicinal plants, jungle fauna. There will be a night in Camouflaged house where you will enjoy seeing the finest wildlife behavior such as Tapir, deer, monkeys and many small rodents in the mammals Clay Lick as Tapirs and others animals eating salt mud during the night.
- DAY 5: CONDEJA RIVER (Research Zone) – MUYUNA PARROTS CLAY LICK
- After eating our breakfast, we will return back to Bonanza Ecological Reserve, along the way we will have a chance to see a rich biodiversity of birds, monkeys and exotic plants. We will have time for shower and enjoy a buffet breakfast and lunch. Afterwards we will travel by boat 3 hours up stream, arriving to Muyuna parrots clay lick, where we will spend our last night having a delicious dinner and roaring bonfire. Our night will be spent camping in tents in the river bank with mattresses provided for your comfort. There is also an optional night walk especially White Caiman search.
- DAY 6: MUYUNA PARROTS CLAY LICK - CUSCO
- The final day we start very early to the parrot’s clay lick where we can see many parrots and parakeets eating minerals. After that we will continue travelling up stream to Atalaya port where our private bus will be waiting for us and take us back to the magical city of Cusco arriving to Cusco early afternoon.
